Building businesses that solve real problems
From hospitality to Sri Lanka's quick-commerce frontier
Janik Jayasuriya is known for vision, resilience, and innovation in Sri Lanka's business landscape. As the Founder and Managing Director of Celeste, he introduced the country's first and fastest-growing on-demand cloud supermarket, changing how customers access groceries and everyday essentials.
A graduate of the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in Hospitality Management, Janik began his career in hospitality. When COVID-19 disrupted movement and supply chains, he identified the need for dependable on-demand grocery delivery and moved quickly to bring the quick-commerce model to Sri Lanka.
"For him, business is not just about profits; it is about impact."
His leadership has supported job creation, local producers, small businesses, and communities. Beyond the boardroom, his background in competitive sport shapes a leadership style grounded in discipline, teamwork, calculated risk-taking, resilience, and excellence.
